Learning to play the oboe

Lessons are £15 / 30 mins/30, 45 or 60 minute lessons can be booked.

The oboe is a wonderfully versatile instrument which can sound both hauntingly beautiful and dazzlingly virtuosic. Once you get used to playing with a double reed, realising that the fingering is much the same as a recorder's and remembering to breathe - you are an oboist! Don't worry if you are not currently in a school setting where you can play in ensembles such as wind bands or orchestras, many music books come supplied with backing accompaniments, or I can record them for you to play along with at home.

If you like the theme from "The Mission" (Gabriel's Oboe) or the opening of the second movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony no. 4, the oboe is for you.
